Over the years I’ve worked with many persons undergoing cancer treatment. These treatments can be physically and mentally exhausting. I’ve worked with many people to set up meal and grocery delivery support systems from their friends and family. More recently, I’ve used these services on my own to send a few of my friends who are nurses on COVID units meals and/or groceries when they get COVID and/or need to quarantine from their family. Whatever the reasons are, this article is designed to highlight some grocery and meal delivery services that are convenient ways to get prepared meals or groceries delivered to someone’s door. Whether it’s an older adult, or a friend who just had a baby, these services can be utilized as a kind gesture to help others or to save time in your own life.

Grocery Delivery
Instacart

Instacart allows you to pick the grocery store that you already shop at and buy groceries from there. Participating stores include Safeway, Costco, Sam’s Club, Lucky’s, Target, etc… The service uses local shoppers to pick up your groceries from your local stores. The service lets you pick substitute products in case your preferred option is out of stock. You can also opt to have the shopper contact you to ask about exhanges, and you can even get live updates about the shopping process.

Walmart

If you shop at Walmart anyway than Walmart Grocery is a great option to save you time by eliminating the trip to the store. With Walmart Grocery, you can shop from all of Walmart’s offerings and get same-day delivery. This includes all of Walmart’s products, including things like electronics, clothing and toiletries.

Safeway

In more rural areas on the west coast where Instacart or Walmart may not be available, if there’s a Safeway you can order directly through them. The delivery fee goes down in some stores with larger orders.
